Many men and women around the world would like to conceive and birth their own child. Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to have children. This is due to being infertile, or plainly put not being able to conceive. Over 6 million people in America alone are infertile and this number climbs more and more each year.
Many couples consider it to be a loss of life when they find that they are unable to conceive a child of their own. This is one of many reasons couples find that they may be infertile if they do not conceive a child after one year of unprotected sex, or six months of unprotected sex if you are over the age of 35. These couples become more and more anxious to have a child, finding that they are unable to do so may make them think they are infertile.
What Causes Infertility?
In females there are numerous reasons we can be diagnosed with infertility. With causes including, Endometriosis, Ovulation problems, and even poor egg quality. Now, let’s break down these causes and get to the bottom of this.
Endometriosis is characterized by growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus. This substance may also be referred to as the discharge during menstruation.
Ovulation problems may come from an abnormality in the release of hormones that release the eggs from the ovaries.
Poor egg quality is the weakness or damage in the egg cells. Age can also affect egg quality since as you mature your eggs mature with you. This affect may also lead to menopause.
What causes male infertility?
Males can also be subject to infertility with causes including blockages and sperm problems.
Some males can experience tube blockages which may occur at the epididymis or vas deferens. Both tubes are sperm passages. Although, varicoceles located at the testicles may be the leading cause of this condition.
Sperm problems can be associated with anything from the absence of sperm cells to a low sperm count and even the deformation of sperm.
Many times both the male and female may have signs of infertility which will lower the chance of the couple conceiving. There is also what is known as “unexplained infertility”, which is what it sounds like. There is no found reason why the couple should not be able to have a child.
If you have been diagnosed with infertility, you should keep in mind that there are other options out there for you and your family. One such option is adoption. Although you would like to have a child of your own and experience pregnancy and child birth, this is always an option for you to consider. By adopting a child you are taking in someone that has longed for someone else to love and care for them.
Consider all your options before you give up completely. As always talk to your doctor before you consider any type of infertility testing. These tests can be costly even if your health care provider helps to pay for them. If you have no insurance or your provider will not help in payment the cost of the test will rest on your shoulders alone.
