To run ArticleMS, at the very minimum you need a host that supports PHP and MySQL.
Recommendations for a host
Features
- mod_rewrite - Highly recommended, this feature will allow you to have a well formed url structure.
- PHP 4 compiled with GD 1 or 2 (Image Generation) and FreeType text support. - This feature is needed is you wish to make use of image verification (CAPTCHA)
Disk Space
If you are planning to have lots of articles and/or images, you will need a lot of disk space. Try looking for a hosting plan with at least 1gb of disk space.
Bandwidth
The more popular your site becomes, the more bandwidth you will need. Around 5gb per month is a probably a good start.
Uptime
Uptime is one of the most important considerations when choosing a host, after all what good is a site when it always down? Look for a host that provide a 99.9% uptime guarantee.
Backups and support
If something goes wrong, you want the host to have backups ready, and be responsive when you need support.
